Perhaps we could exchange e-mails via fanmail or something to keep in touch should one/both of us ever go through with it?
I mean, I probably won’t. Or if I do I’ll keep my tumblr because I’m attached to posts and certain people, but…IDEK.
Like sometimes I just want to start over with a totally different account and pretend I’m a wholly different person and make new friends while slowly collecting the people from this account that I can’t tumblr live without.
i really cant stand characters that everyone is magically in love with. i was okay with the baby until it was born and everyone loved it. before it was born, it was a monster. afterwards… ugh. and yes, jacob was ruined. its just such a terrible ending to an otherwise mediocre series.
By the end of Eclipse the series had gone from mediocre to just plain shitty, IMO. I thought the first book was mediocre but not quite as horrible or worth the passionate hate it got, but then I read New Moon and Eclipse and for some reason tried reading Breaking Dawn but after Jacob’s imprinting scene I just couldn’t anymore. I hate series that start off decently or poorly but with potential (I did - and still do to an extent - liked a lot of the supporting/surrounding characters in Twilight and the sequels) but only become more and more overblown and self-indulgent and crappy. ARGH.
there is a show called The Dresden Files. it only went for one season, but there are two female werewolves in the episode “Hair of the Dog”
I loved The Dresden Files! I was so depressed when it got cancelled. :( Terence Mann as Bob was the best thing! I appreciated that it had female werewolves and the episode’s plot revolved around the female werewolves.
But I really would like a movie or a tv series where werewolves are prominent/the main focus and female werewolves are included and are well-developed characters who exist in their own right. Where the male werewolf population isn’t overwhelmingly bigger than the female population (like, say, Teen Wolf; Erica is an interesting character, but she’s one female in a show of six werewolf characters - five to one? wait! six to one now because Jackson; so, yeah, that frustrates me and no I’m not counting Laura because she never got the chance to be a character).
Female lycans basically don’t exist in the Underworld series, Leah is the only female wolf in the Twilight saga of bullshit, there’s The Vampire Diaries but then they don’t like werewolves much period (but still, more males than females), etc. Blood & Chocolate the book was good, but the movie was shit and cut out some females and the other females it butchered and destroyed.
The Ginger Snaps trilogy is good, and then there’s Trick ‘r Treat which gave us four awesome werewolf women. The Buffyverse had two female werewolves but the first (Veruca?) was a minor role who was a villain and the second (Nina, on AtS) was a reoccurring guest character who wasn’t much more than a mild love interest (though I really love Nina and what I’ve read of her arc in the post-Angel comics is awesome).
It just depresses me that there are a LOT of male werewolf characters of all different kinds, and not so many female even though female werewolves could have just as awesome - hell, even more awesome - storylines and character arcs.
Nothing against male werewolf characters though because probably 75% of them are HOT AS FUCK.
I actually thought Leah’s pain over being barren was really sympathetic, I just didn’t like how it (babies and who can have ‘em!) became the focus and main conflict for three central female figures. There was no balanced message, it was “babies are magical and fix everything!” No protagonist didn’t want babies, ultimately. There were a few who were apparently indifferent, but….
It was less ‘babies are magical and fix everything!’ for me so much as ‘the baby created from Bella and Edward’s LURV is super awesome and magical and fixes everything no literally all conflict is fixed because of the baby/Bella’s vampirism that came about because of said baby’
That message was truly stupid.
Also I can’t understand how Jacob’s imprinting scene in the books is not read by some people as tragic. I read that scene and it was horrifying. It was tragic. It was exactly what he was afraid of, it all happened, he lost his entire sense of self and his entire existence became this baby and it was just so fucking depressing and then I realized that it was going to be presented as “romantic” and “meant to be” and I ragequit.
If you haven’t yet, you need to read Discworld, especially the Watch books. Angua is amazing, and her mother (though evil) is fantastic too. And Ludmilla Cake is also a wonderful female werewolf, but she’s just in one book so far.
I don’t know much about that series, but now that I know it has female werewolves, I’ll look into it! Thanks!
Leah was awesome until her character arc became “wahhh i can’t have babies”. It’s only a problem because that became EVERYBODY’S deal. Babies=good No babies=bad
I didn’t really see it that way so much as an insult that Bella doesn’t care/doesn’t want babies she just wants Edward and Rosalie and Leah want babies SO FUCKING BADLY while other characters don’t so much (like Alice, she never seemed to care, IIRC, and Esme seemed content with the adopted family) but Rosalie and Leah really super do and then suddenly Bella gets pregnant and suddenly now she wants the baby and Rosalie and Leah are just totally screwed over because there will always be something missing in their lives while fucking Bella fucking Swan gets Edward, her baby thing, and thanks to the magical plot device that is imprinting she can also keep Jacob in her life forever without him being an actual threat to her relationship with Edward.
…I really fucking hate that book.
Though TBH I just had a lot of problems with the series’ handling of Leah and how she basically loses everything and is in such a horrible position where her hurts are constantly flung in her face and nobody even cares. She’s basically the opposite of Bella; assertive and aggressive and ‘bitchy’ and outspoken, and she seems to be continually punished (loses the guy she loves, becomes unable to bear children, has to hear Sam’s thoughts about Emily and everyone else’s thoughts about her whenever they’re in wolf form before she follows Jacob if you ship Blackwater then she loses Jacob) while Bella gets rewarded with everything.
True. I mean the wolves in Twilight are fully chest waxed, so go figure. XD Lucian from Underworld had some fuzz, though, plus long gorgeous locks. XD
Lucian, Pierce, Taylor, Trix, Sabas, and Xristo had varying degrees of fuzz.
Mmmmm sexy lycans.
Raze was less fuzzy. Just as super sexy as the other lycans though holy fuck his voice is so fucking sexy.
Leah (Twilight saga of bullshit) was awesome though. And there’s the girls of Trick ‘r Treat. Jules on The Vampire Diaries. Mindy from TVD as well though she was a hybrid. But she was originally a werewolf. And of course my queen my supreme alpha bitch Sonja from Skinwalkers was freaking hot as FUCK because Natassia Malthe is a sex goddess. Also Sarah Carter is an awesome female wolf.
THERE ARE AWESOME AND SEXY FEMALE WOLVES BUT NOT NEARLY ENOUGH AND WHY DO THEY KEEP GETTING SHAFTED AND KILLED OFF WHYYYYYY.
does anyone else have this other self theyve created in their mind that is not really exactly you irl but is more like what you want to be and has a life that continues in your head with like weird continuing daydreams but theyre not perfect or anything and wow i forget where i was going with this
