In the last episode when Lydia said that line I just thought ‘no baby noooo’
But then I was going through some old caps and rediscovered that in the scene when Lydia wakes up with all that blood the very first thing her mom does is check her wrists while yelling, “What did you do to yourself?”
So it got me thinking; I wonder if that line wasn’t a jab at people with mental disorders. I wonder if it was an attempt to try and keep her own armor up. She doesn’t want to be anything less than perfect. She can’t let anything be wrong, even when the ground is crumbling underneath her feet. Lydia completely ignores how severe the situation is and cowers behind her mask, turning it all into ‘I’m not like them’ and forcing herself to believe that it’s true, and that it’s enough.
